HST continues

It has been slow goin, but I have made some progress. My inspiration comes from a pattern called Diamond Rings. However, the layout in the following picture may be all I use in my quilt top. I am thinking of doing the remainder in solids for a very minimal effect. I also thought about having the final layout flipped, meaning this section of the quilt top would flow top to bottom instead of side to side (which is how it appears on my sewing table).

Hopefully sometime soon I'll have an end result. BTW Happy 2014

New HST Project

I guess you can say I am inspired!!! I am starting a new project. I'm not 100% sure about my exact direction, but I do plan on using HST (Half Square Triangles). Picked out a charm pack from the stash and plan to also add some Kona Snow. Let's hope I finish fast. I tend to lose interest quickly. Wish me luck

Completed Project

Hopefully over the next few days I will be completing my first project for 2013. Can you believe it? It's already October and I have not finished one thing to completion. Truth be told, I have only worked on three projects the entire year. My completed (or soon to be completed) project will be my Round Robin quilt top. This was a fun interactive project with members of KMQG. We started with a quilt block and hosted rounds where various guild members worked on each others quilts. We supplied approx 5 yards of fabric and set guidelines to determine if others could add their own fabric or not. It went several months and for me was completely....stressful.
The fear of working with someone else's fabric struck a fear in me which I didn't know existed. However, I made it through and was actually very impressed with the results. I am in the process of starting to bind the quilt. It was quilted by my wonderful friend Pat Pike.

 Photo's soon!

Inspiration

I seem to have ran out of inspiration lately. Haven't finished a single project all year. I plan to work on backing for my round robin quilt. Hopefully Ill get that finished and off to the longarmer.

Swaps

Enjoy swaps? Participate in several yearly? What's your favorite? I don't join in many swaps, but one has got me captivated. I am a sucker for totes, pouches, purses, etc. The PLPS (Pretty Little Pouch Swap) found on Flickr currently in its 6th round, I have truly enjoyed so much. I am not at all interested in what I see out there in most swaps, I say most becuase I obviously havent seen them all. Some swaps are too traditional, others swap items too often. Im not interested in having a swap event every month, even every other month, to me that would get old FAST! However I love that almost everyone in this swap is very MODERN and very creative. I love the mosaics, the fabric, and the time that seems to be put into the timing of the swap as well as the members of the group and their abilities. Dont be afraid if you are new to sewing. They have different skill levels to choose from so that you dont have to feel intimidated with the strong skills of other sewers. It is a really fun swap, so if you haven't checked it out before...do so. Sew What if you are a beginner, everyone has to start somewhere.

How the years go by

Decided today that I would look back to see when the last time I put my ink to paper, or fingers to keyboard in this case. Wow, it's been a while since I updated my blog. I want to do better. I want to be one of those that use this means of connection daily...however I am not that good at keeping to habits. Nope 2013 will not bring any resolutions to blog daily, but I can say that I do want to put a good solid effort to it...along with some other things. I hope that 2013 has lots of good things in store for not only me, but for all my family, friends and social network connections. Sew what If I cannot stick to a solid resolution, 2013 will come regardless of whether I do so or not. Goodbye 2012, all in all you were a good year!

Sew you think you can blog?

Obviously it has been a while since my last blog post. Sew what's the special occassion one might ask? This weekend close to one year from the date I finally finished my T shirt quilt. Started it in June 2011 and I finally put the binding on it July 1, 2012. Not sure what took me so long, poor thing has been pieced for so long, I finally quilted it earlier this year. I wanted it to have a scrappy look and finally its done. I am happy that I have chosen a hobby and stuck with it so long. For all that know me well, know this is a great achievement. Along the way I have learned alot, and have met many of who I believe will be LIFELONG friends! Sew what if it has taken me more than a year, I have learned the gradification is in the trip not in the destination. Til next time.
